To explore her interest in a career in food service and management, Cary-Grove senior Marina Morris spent part of her summer in a micro-internship with Wild Asparagus Catering in Lake Barrington.

“I’ve always had an interest in (culinary). It started when I was young and cooking in the kitchen with my Mom, so when I heard about Wild Asparagus and the micro-internship, I was interested to see how working there would help me in the future,” said Marina Morris, Cary-Grove Senior. 

At Wild Asparagus, Marina spent time learning how to prep food, preparing orders to be served at upcoming catered events and learning from owner Julia King on the daily tasks and skills needed to own and operate a food service business.

“Working with students in general is fantastic,” said Julia King, owner of Wild Asparagus Catering. “I love getting their new perspectives and was really excited to have students come in and out and be able to show them what we do at Wild Asparagus.”
